Published:
Duration: Nov 2023 – Sep 2025
Organization: Human Robotics Laboratory, NAIST · Ikoma, Japan
Collaboration: Hitachi Corp, Japan
Overview
Designed and built a high-fidelity Virtual Reality driving simulator using Unreal Engine, integrated with an AI driving assistant. The system is used to train drivers and evaluate driver cognition in controlled, reproducible virtual environments — a collaboration between NAIST’s Human Robotics Laboratory and Hitachi Corporation.
Key Contributions
- Developed the simulation environment in Unreal Engine with realistic driving scenarios and vehicle physics
- Integrated an AI driving assistant that monitors driver behavior, provides real-time feedback, and evaluates cognitive load
- Designed data collection and logging pipelines for driving performance metrics and physiological indicators
- Collaborated with Hitachi Corp engineers on system integration and evaluation protocols
